Back in the studio

My dear friends, I hope you had a most lovely Christmas season! We closed up shop and headed down South to spend time with our families. 4874 kilometers later, we had visited them all. Thankfully we flew and not drove, although after being in 3 different states in 10 days, im thinking next year, we might just say, we love you, but cant visit you all!

While in Sydney my Mum and I had a lovely day of styling and shooting some of our recent wedding invitation packages. How much of a beautiful job did my Mum do with the photographs of Susan & Mikes wedding package above. She has an amazing collection of vintage silverware and a gorgeous garden - absolute bliss for styling!

Wishing you all a very happy new year!

All wrapped up

Growing up my Mum taught me many wonderful things like how to be a good person, how to live life (which basically means how to be silly), how to be honest and warm hearted, how to cherish each day and love unconditionally. But most of all she taught me that presentation means everything!

My mum has always been the queen bee of beautiful wrapping. Last year she wrapped in Florence Broadhurst wallpapers, and this year she has outdone herself with her gorgeous blue and red dragonfly theme in the photo above. What a special mum, I feel so privileged to have grown up surrounded by such appreciation of the beautiful things in life!
Merry Chirstmas Mum!

Happy Weekend!

My lovely friends, im wishing you beautiful pre christmas weekend. I hope you get time amongst the rush of shopping confusion this weekend to enjoy with friends and family. I am having a very big avoidance of the shops this year and have gone for a handmade approach and have made or purchased from other beautiful designers. With many 3am mornings this week madly sewing and swearing at my sewing machine, I hope, fingers crossed, I can now relax and enjoy the magic of christmas. I'ld love to show you what I've made, but that will just spoil the surprise!!

Before I head down to Sydney today I wanted to share with you a gorgeous letterpress idea which is being started by Paper Stories. Now unfortuantly its only open to those of us who print letterpress, and not admirers, but she is organising a global swap amongst the letterpress designers and printers of the world. You can find more information here. It will certianally be all my christmases at once receiving a beautiful big bundle of prints!

Have a most lovely weekend, and I'll see you all next week from somewhere down south!

Its a peonie kind of day

Im having a most lovely time today drawing and illustrating peonies for a gorgeous wedding couple. One of my favourite parts of researching for wedding stationary is searching for inspiring photos to help build us a mood board which then forms the basis of the colour and style for our stationery design. Sometimes I come across the most beautiful things, such as these gorgeous photos by Sandra, Such beautiful colours and compositions. I am feeling most inspired!

In the studio today

We headed off down the beach first thing this morning for a early dip in the sea with Ruby our dog. Followed by my favourite freshly squeezed watermelon & pineapple juice, im determined that this must become my new summer routine. Ruby herself has established her own summer routine - sleep by the presses, occasionally stir when the churn of the press gets to loud and bark at vistors only when required.

Such barking was required today when the courier delivered our latest batch of photopolymer plates. Captured here today with my morning cup of tea.

Today we printed a gorgeous vintage invite in pretty pinks, I love handmixing our inks, its such a beautiful process to watch the colours blend.

Its also been great to watch my husband in progress building away in our studio. He is building us a new 3metre by 60cm work table for our office. Tomorrow its off to the panel beaters to be sprayed in a pretty shinny 2pac white.

Such a busy day!

In the studio today

Most exciting news, today we started printing our limited edition prints which will be for sale next week!!

It was a beautiful day in the studio, gorgeous light filtering through our new windows, the press was being a fine old gentleman and behaving himself (he does like to throw temper tantrums), and if hadn't had been a sweltering 32'C inside the studio I would say it would have been one of our loveliest days ever!

Onto weekend news im off to visit the GOMA annual design market and then on Sunday im off to sell my art at the Southbank Young Designers Market.

With so many wonderful designer markets happening this weekend around Australia, I hope you too get to be inspired by the wonderful talents which surround us!

Renae & Thomas's stationary package features a gorgeous modern olive green coupled with a lovely warm grey. The style is simple, elegant and sophisticated. It also features place settings, registry cards and menu cards. Featuring an illustration which I have illustrated and the combination of a script typeface coupled with a modern serif - this is going go be such an opulent invitation once printed!

Susan & Mike Wedding Stationary

We have had so many requests lately to see more samples of our work here at Bespoke Press so I thought it was about time that I gave you a sneak peak of a few wedding packages about to be printed in our studio in the coming weeks.

Susan & Mikes stationary is a striking one colour black design. Not only economical (just one colour) its also so strong with its simplicity and strong typographic design.

You just cant go wrong with Black and white and beautiful typography - so striking, yet modern and opulent all at the same time!

Loving Turquoise

Found via the SCOOP blog, I am adoring this beautiful interior work by LA based Vanessa from Turquoise.

Now turquoise has got to be one of my favourite colours, so I simply adore her business name and not to mention how perfect are her Turquoise and white stools. Just beautiful!
