rebecca & tim wedding stationery

Ever so occasionally we hear the wonderful news that someone near and dear to us are getting married! Such was the case with the super sweet Rebecca & Tim. Our families of all girl children grew up together and every special moment in our lives has been shared... three girls in my family and four girls in Rebeccas family... We almost all grew up like sisters.

When Bec & Tim announced their engagement, we were super excited as we knew we could create them a gorgeous wedding gift for them with letterpress wedding stationery. Their wedding will be held on an acreage property in Sydney. Surrounded by bush and gardens, It is going to be a gorgeously special day.

We designed their invite to be a reflection of this location coupled with a simple sweet no fuss serif typeface to reflect the beautiful day they are planning.

We are so excited for Bec & Tim, and cant wait to share their special day with them!

oh shucks.

Today we want to say two very big gorgeous thankyous.

The first to the gorgeous team at Real Living who have spotted our new range of notelets and to Deborah, the fabulous editor who has featured them on her editors page of their latest issue out this week. Oh my, such an honour, we are tickled pink.

And secondly a very big thankyou to you. Our ever lovely blog visitors... Over the weekend we hit our 100,000th hit to this wee little blog. For a little letterpress team, running out of an old timber queenslander, it is so humbling.

It is such a beautiful joy to share our daily adventures with you - No matter if its your first visit here to our blog, or your a daily reader, we thankyou. Your support means the world to us.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

P.S Ruby sends her kisses too.

sarah & james thankyou swing tags

Yesterday we finished off a sweet little job for one of our couples who are getting married next weekend. 100 letterpressed swing tags, with scalloped corners, eyelets and ribbon for this lovely couple to use at their wedding reception. Too sweet... we love when couples think of unique ways of saying thankyou!

meagan & darren wedding invitations

Above are images of our completed wedding invitations for Meagan & Darren, featuring the pink ink as shown on our blog yesterday.

This New Years Eve wedding couple wanted a sophisticated and elegant typographically based design, predominately featuring their wedding colour - pink.

Choice of typeface was very important to ensure we achieved a clean and neat justified effect, so we used one of our favourite typefaces for its strong strength, yet strikingly good looking serifs. We loved how this invitation has turned out, it feels amazing to run your fingers up over and down the mountain of valleys in the impression.

We wish Meagan & Darren a beautiful new years eve wedding!

in the inky studio

We have such a busy busy printing schedule this week. Herbies printing, Charlies clunking, the guiltones chopping and im madly mixing ink colours.

Although I must admit, I do love love love mixing ink. It is s such a fine line when mixing colours to get them perfect. The tinest little addition of a colour into the mix can make or break a colour. You can totally ruin an ink colour by overcompensating, and then you have to start all over again!

Its also quite tricky as the mixed ink colour when printed looks entirely different to the actual raw ink. So its alot of trial and error and having the knowlegde to know how colours will work when mixed together, and how the press and paper will ultimately effect the ink.

This candy pink we have been mixing is made up of a base red and opaque white. It was looking all a little to bright, so the tinest tab of oragnge and the littlest tiney weeny addition of yellow, mellowed the colour out just perfectly. It resulted in a little more of a coral pink then vibrant pink... I promise i'll show you the outcome soon!

the video camera from 2006 when Ruby was just 8 weeks old.

hello little hydrangeas

How was your weekend friends? We tried our best to have a whole day off work - unfortunately it didn't quite happen... We just cant seem to keep ourselves out of the studio...!

We did however manage to save a few hours for ourselves and stocked up on our summer vegetable seedlings for the vegie garden. I also managed to score some hydrangea plants. Oh they are such my favourites. I am all a little skeptical as to how well they will grow in our warm sunny Brisbane. But I will give them all the love and water I can and hope for the best that they will survive in the shady corner of our garden.

Happy monday - hope your having a lovely day,

kamandalu resort

Thankyou for your sweet messages, As promised some photos from our week away.

We splurged and stayed at the Kamadalu Resort & Spa in Ubud, Bali. Located 90 minutes inland from the main tourist hub, it was exactly the escape we needed.

Secluded on the top of a valley the resort climbs down into the jungle below. We spent our time swimming, sleeping, reading and monkey watching from our own outdoor lounge room complete with full size outdoor bed underneath!

Each afternoon the monkeys would come up from the jungle and try to steal our view. The smart little things, we never succeeded in the photo department. Our villa came with its own pool, which was simply divine. Im a bit of a sooky swimmer. It has to be SO hot to get me into the water. Thankfully the 30'c days just met my requirements!!

It was such the most peaceful week, the staff were gorgeously attentive and very romantic in the little touches that they do. Flowers in the bath tub, good night treats on the bed and flower petals scattered around our outdoor dining table, So very sweet. We cant recommend Kamandalu enough.

It took a great deal of self control not to turn on my phone or check emails. To hide away from the world felt so naughty, but so liberating at the same time!! I cant remember the last time we took a day off, let alone a whole week. So after our Bali escape we have decided on a new Bespoke rule... Sunday will be our day off... Lets see how long it can last!!

Have a beautiful weekend my friends, we will be doing our best NOT to be working this Sunday!

kristie & ken wedding menu cards

Today we are finishing off our very last project for the gorgeous Kristie & Ken who are getting married this Saturday! We printed their save the dates, and wedding stationery quite some time ago, and today have finished off their menu and beverage cards.

We are quite in love with these cards and used double thick inserts for the menu page to ensure that they stood sturdy and strong on their wedding tables. And how yummy does their menu sound... it was making us so hungry printing these!

Have a most beautiful day you two, hope the weather is perfect and its a day to remember forever!!

friendly business cards

Here in the studio we get quite alot of requests to produce business cards. There is no denying it, they are not cheap to produce, but just every now and then we get a designer who just must have letterpress and can see the value in presenting their business the most beautifulest of ways. Dale Thornton was one of those.

Owner of the Friendly Agency, we love his card he designed, so simple and clean, which is perfect for letterpress. Printed with a black ink and a blind impression (no ink) with alot of white space, these cards are timeless and classic - just as all good letterpress jobs should be!

melissa & craig wedding stationery

We have been so busy of late designing, printing and packaging wedding sets for our super cute wedding couples and we have struggled to find time to show you them all them here on our blog. So please forgive us... but here is a gorgeous wedding set that might hopefully make up for it...

This classic and elegant invitation set for Brisbane based Melissa & Craig featured an invitation, registry card, thankyou card and envelopes to suit. Printed on our gorgeous ivory cotton papers, the combination of chocolate ink and blind impression (printing with no ink) resulted in the most stunning effect that left us all smitten. You might have just seen their stationery featured on the home page of our website we loved it that much!

The pattern was designed to have an art deco feel, but also relaxed and tropical to suit the Sunshine Coast wedding location. It was also a perfect twist of fate that our pattern turned out to be a very close resemblance to the brides wedding earrings. A beautiful surprise, which made this design even more special! Coupled with gorgeously relaxed typography it was such a wonderful joy to print this wedding set. I hope you all like it!

in the studio today

Today we are decorating envelopes with handmade linings. I love adding linings to a wedding set, it makes such a beautifully sweet surprise for guests when they open the envelope, and we all love little surprises! We design our linings, hand cut them and assemble each and every envelope. Its quite a slow process, but oh so worth the effort!

These linings are printed with black on a metallic ivory stock for one of our super sweet couples Bec & Tim. The botanical illustration is inspired by the bush setting of their wedding ceremony, and we have popped cute little heart leaves amongst the foliage - a cute little reference to this super sweet and loving couple!
