featured wedding: kristie & ken

Today we have a really lovely treat for you! We have been promising to feature Kristie & Kens Sunshine coast wedding on our blog for some time now, so without much further ado, here are gorgeous photographs and the story behind Kristie & Kens amazing wedding.

Date: September 12, 2009
Location: Ebb Waterfront Maroochydore. We fell in love with this venue as soon as we saw it. The fact that we could have our accommodation, ceremony and reception in the same place made the whole day feel connected and intimate and also gave our guests a better chance to mingle and to get to know each other. The view from the restaurant and terrace was breathtaking as well which is always a plus and the food and wine was to die for!!
Photographer: Brad Peate from Focus Films, absolutely incredible!!
Stationery: Bespoke Letterpress Boutique, featured here, here and here.
Florist: Monique from Tigerlillies
Wedding Gown: Hilde Heim
Bridesmaids Gowns: Ultra Suite
Grooms suits: Bought from The General Store (it actually ended up cheaper than hiring!!)
My favourite moment of the day: Seeing Ken waiting for me before our ceremony with the ocean and Maroochydore river in the background.
Little things you did to make your wedding day truly unique? I bought most of our decorations online, it’s amazing how much you cam save by doing some research and also, I can now resell the decorations to other DIY brides! We also invited guests to come to the venue half an hour early for champagne just to give them a chance to mingle and be comfortable before the ceremony.
Styling tips & ideas: The view from our venue was the shining star so we didn’t need to over complicate our styling. I guess I tried to incorporate simple elegant touches (such as candlelight reflected off plate mirrors) which complemented the venues unique characteristics rather than competed with them. I also took a lot of inspiration from blogs such as www.stylemepretty.com and incredible bridal magazines such as Style Guide and Bride to Be.
Other little things you would like to share? I think the most important lesson I learnt through the whole planning process and the outcome of the day is that no matter how much time and effort you spend organising every last detail, you can’t control everything. On the day things will happen that aren’t to plan and when they do, it’s so important to remind yourself why you are there in the first place.

Thankyou Kristie & Ken! It has been such a joy to work with you both throughout the planning for your gorgeous day. We wish you all the very best for a beautiful lifetime of love, joy and happiness.
